Literature 267 AA: Filipino American Literature
—————————————————————
What comes to mind when you think of the word “Filipino”? Dancing? Singing? Boxing? Eating? What happens when you add the word “American”?
What does it mean to be “Filipino American”?
Think about the ways that Filipinos in America are portrayed in the media today. What does history have to do with it? Cultural Identity? Ethnicity? Gender? Sexuality?
Find the answers for yourselves — through the study of Filipino American fiction, poetry, essays, art, film, graphic novel, and other media.
Rather than focusing on essays, we’ll explore, evaluate, experiment with, and express these ideas together through:
- class discussions
- reading journals
- blogging
- collaborative/individual projects

I’ve always wondered this myself…
Dedicated to Allan T., Paolo, Joel, and Jonathan. Denny’s, anyone?! XD
Love it!
LOL. Ate Liza, I totally thought of you upon seeing this. :)
Wow. This would make my life a *whole* lot easier… :D LOL!
Ah, the dilemma of a writing teacher. I’ve actually been thinking about this as of late, and I’ve often worried if my Tweeting has affected my ability — or more importantly, my desire — to write. I know I’ve been blogging less and less since I started using Twitter, so there’s definitely some truth to this… Hmm. How to remedy this…ohh, the irony.
